about

Happy October my fellow ghouls. This month returning collaborator Chudan and I bring you four remixes of the fabulous PHANTASM soundtrack. If you haven't seen this movie, please put it on this month. It is a lost classic, up there with Halloween and all the other great 70s and 80s slashers. A letter from The Tall Man to director Don Coscarelli:

"Dear Don,
If Phantasm achieves the distribution we hope for, one of the fascinating prospects is that inevitably, the way things fall out statistically, a sizeable portion of the young among your worldwide audience will be seeing a horror film for the first time.

Thus, your Phantasm will forever be the archetype of horror that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. The original by which they measure every subsequent exposure to the horror genre, as Dracula and Frankenstein were to my generation.

The Tall Man will be their Karloff and Lugosi, all their nameless nightmares of Dreaded evil at last embodied, etched in the amber of their consciousness for as long as they each shall live. I'm glad he's Angus Scrimm and not me."

-Angus Scrimm, The Tall Man

Black Market Dub Los Angeles, California

What would happen if The Beach Boys had The Wailers as their backing band instead of The Wrecking Crew? What if David Bowie spent the summer of 1975 in Kingston, Jamaica with King Tubby instead of Philidelphia? Michael Jackson meets Scratch Perry? These questions are the basic thesis of Black Market. Listen loud, dance, enjoy, and share. I make these albums for free but accept donations. ... more
