themichaelmoran As always, the additions to the original tracks are so seamlessly and sensitively added, they sound like they were always meant to be there.

Interestingly, back before he became one of the greatest singer/songwriters of the 70s and 80s, Elton had a side-hustle appearing on ‘Top Of The Tops’ covers albums here in the UK, and they alway gave him the reggae numbers to sing so this is kind of full circle. Favorite track: Tiny Dancer.

about

I write this on April 1st at nearly 2am while I finish this album the night before it's due for release. Surely this is a joke right? ELTON JOHN? IN DUB??

It's no joke, this is some deadly serious reggae. No one on Earth grooves harder than Horseman and Wise Owl together, and behind some of the most killer pop songs ever written - you don't want to skip this one. I'm super excited to finally get one of my best friends on EARTH on a Black Market release. Sam Small! Sam is easily my favorite guitar player alive and I am so lucky to have him alongside me and Wise Owl for this release. I told him "Don't play reggae, just bring the 70s vibes." I think he brought that in spades and much more.

Some of you may know that recently I got a puppy and I named him Elton! This album is for you buddy, thanks for being such a great pup.

Be sure to check out my Youtube channel for the live dub videos of all of these songs! They were all performed live as you hear them on the album. Each week I post new videos of Black Market dubs of mine and other people's work.

about

Black Market Dub Los Angeles, California

What would happen if The Beach Boys had The Wailers as their backing band instead of The Wrecking Crew? What if David Bowie spent the summer of 1975 in Kingston, Jamaica with King Tubby instead of Philidelphia? Michael Jackson meets Scratch Perry? These questions are the basic thesis of Black Market. Listen loud, dance, enjoy, and share. I make these albums for free but accept donations. ... more
